There’s a 113 year old schoolhouse at the foot of my sister’s backyard

My sister Shawn & her husband Jim have spent a small fortune painting, installing new windows and adding a new roof to the 1910 schoolhouse on their property.  The structure is put to good use, with plenty of space for tools, vehicles and other equipment.  Still… there’s something about it that spooks me.

I knew it!

    1. Danielle, you would be right--I just don't know if the schoolmarm is a good ghost or malevolent one :^(

  3. Yes, it does have a spooky air about it. Needs more windows and nasturtiums beside the door. Shawn and Jim certainly have put a lot of work into it so far. Happy Halloween, Doug! ❤️๐ŸŽƒ❤️

    1. Haha, you and your nasturtiums! Florence, these photos are actually a couple years old (except for the dead schoolmarm) and my sister has planted flowers and such around this ghostly abode :^)

  4. The building does look a bit haunted. It must provide great extra storage space for Jim and Shawn. I suspect they've befriended the ghosts living inside. The only solution is to have a seance. The truth will be told.

  6. The lack of windows is definitely spooky! I would feel a little claustrophobic inside. Eek!!

  11. I too wish you a very happy birthday, and thanks for the pictures of that strange building. The shape of the windows is rather unusual, I think. Happy Halloween!

  15. Dug, why are/were the windows boarded up? That seems weird... and scary for a schoolhouse. I'd love to see the inside. Happy Halloween and Happy Birthday!

    1. Rian, that was my first question the first time I saw it 20 years ago! I have no idea why it was boarded up, but Shawn & Jim adding a window to the second floor made a big difference. It is good to hear from you, I've been thinking a lot about you and looking forward to reading about your trip :^)
