My sister Shawn & her husband Jim have spent a small fortune painting, installing new windows and adding a new roof to the 1910 schoolhouse on their property. The structure is put to good use, with plenty of space for tools, vehicles and other equipment. Still… there’s something about it that spooks me.
I knew it!
Love this Doug!! What a gorgeous building. Happy Birthday, hope you have a wonderful day!❤️๐❤️
ReplyDeleteRobin
Thanks Robin! And thank you again for the cool birthday card, I love it :^)
DeleteCreepy, I bet it's haunted! - Danielle
ReplyDeleteDanielle, you would be right--I just don't know if the schoolmarm is a good ghost or malevolent one :^(
DeleteYes, it does have a spooky air about it. Needs more windows and nasturtiums beside the door. Shawn and Jim certainly have put a lot of work into it so far. Happy Halloween, Doug! ❤️๐❤️
ReplyDeleteHaha, you and your nasturtiums! Florence, these photos are actually a couple years old (except for the dead schoolmarm) and my sister has planted flowers and such around this ghostly abode :^)
DeleteThe building does look a bit haunted. It must provide great extra storage space for Jim and Shawn. I suspect they've befriended the ghosts living inside. The only solution is to have a seance. The truth will be told.
ReplyDeleteThank you Susan and haha about the seance I so agree! ๐
DeleteLOL! Happy Halloween.
ReplyDeleteHaha thanks Maebeme! Happy Halloween ๐ !
DeleteThe lack of windows is definitely spooky! I would feel a little claustrophobic inside. Eek!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Margaret and oh trust me; the inside is Friday the 13th Jason Goes to School! ๐
DeleteI love that old schoolhouse and am very envious of your family. Thanks for sharing your "spooky" family outbuilding.
ReplyDeleteThank you dkzody, the next time I visit my sister I will have to go inside and take some photos! It has a very cool upstairs!
DeleteI love your old school house! What a great thing to have.
ReplyDeleteThanks Miss Merry, I admit it creeps me out a little but they did a nice job on the outside ๐ ๐
DeleteYou're such fun and creative! Happy Halloween, Doug. Kim in PA
ReplyDeleteWell, this just made my day--thank you Kim! PS I've been wondering about you, I hope you're good ๐
DeleteWhat a clever Halloween treat! Happy Halloween & Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteThank you Bobi--and thank you for the really sweet card and retro-magnet, love that Chex cow! :^)
DeleteI too wish you a very happy birthday, and thanks for the pictures of that strange building. The shape of the windows is rather unusual, I think. Happy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much DJan, it's been a great bday. And I'm going to have to get much better pictures and show the interior of that schoolhouse too, this time no schoolmarm. :^)
DeleteHo Ho Ho
ReplyDeletePeter
Heh heh ;^)
DeleteHappy Birthday Doug!
ReplyDelete~Jase
Thanks Jase, good to hear from you! ๐
DeleteHappy Birthday! Hope you had a great day! ๐. Joyce
ReplyDeleteThank you Joyce, I sure did. I sure hope I'm not sharing too much if I write about it. ๐
DeleteFun post. Happy Halloween.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gigi :^)
DeleteGood one! I was wondering how such a bland building could be spooking you, then the end picture!
ReplyDeleteHaha thanks River... well, I wasn't kidding about the building making me a little chilly! I need to do a followup to this old building :^)
DeleteDug, why are/were the windows boarded up? That seems weird... and scary for a schoolhouse. I'd love to see the inside. Happy Halloween and Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteRian, that was my first question the first time I saw it 20 years ago! I have no idea why it was boarded up, but Shawn & Jim adding a window to the second floor made a big difference. It is good to hear from you, I've been thinking a lot about you and looking forward to reading about your trip :^)
DeleteSpooky for sure. Bet there's a lot of history to the place.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tom, so agree. I'd love to learn more about the schoolhouse!
